If you get on T-Mobile’s site to try and order a G-Slate electronic gadgets, you’ll end up staring at a big coming soon sign. But on eBay it’s a different story. The 8.9-inch Honeycomb tablet isn’t expected to launch for another two weeks but one eBay user is claiming the G-Slate is on hand and ready to ship.

Starting bid is currently at $800, but if you have to have it, buy it now is set at $1200. Is it worth it? Well, when it does come out it’s going to cost $529 with a 2-year contract and after mail-in rebate. Suddenly $800 doesn’t look too bad to be contract-free electronic gadgets.

Nokia Astound for T-Mobile coming April 6th for $80

22 Mar

Want to know where those next 150 million Symbian devices that Nokia wants to sell are going to come from? Well, here’s a little sliver of your answer. We’ve just swung by Nokia’s swank dinner event well outside CTIA’s convention center grounds in Orlando tonight to check out the official introduction of the rumored Astound for T-Mobile tech gadgets. Make no mistake — this is a straight-up C7 in every sense of the word, featuring the same 3.5-inch AMOLED display, 8 megapixel camera, and 720p capture as the original announced last year atop Symbian^3 — so the only real differences are the T-Mobile branding (or should that be AT&T branding?) tastefully featured along the bottom chin and a slight platform bump to Symbian^3.1, which we’re told features “some, but not all” of the PR2.0 update’s features like portrait QWERTY support and a refreshed browser. Interestingly, the carrier will be offering WiFi calling on this one — just as it did on the E73 Mode — and you’ll be able to do unrestricted video calling over Qik thanks to the front-facing cam. Look for it to launch on April 6th for $79.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate on contract (and pre-orders start tomorrow). Follow the break for our hands-on video and Nokia’s press release.

T-Mobile Sidekick 4G is alive and kicking

15 Mar

Every hero needs a sidekick, and anyone who is looking for a smartphone will, well you know where we’re heading with this – need a Sidekick too – a Sidekick 4G in this case.

The handset itself is developed by Samsung and will run on the Android operating system, where it is touted to be one of T-Mobile’s fastest smartphones to date, and is capable of working on theoretical peak download speeds of up to 21Mbps.

Taking off where its predecessor has left off, the Sidekick 4G will sport a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, a sturdy “pop-tilt” hinge, a five-row QWERTY keyboard, as well as keeping you in touch easily thanks to the Sidekick Group Text and Cloud Text options.

Preloaded with essential Facebook and Twitter applications, you can be sure that keeping in touch with this puppy is not a problem at all. Other hardware specifications include a VGA front-facing camera, a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor and integrated Google services support among others.

Out in spring this year, these cool electronic gadgets will come in a couple of colors – matte black or pearl magenta, for a yet unidentified price point.
